Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork is a ceramic vessel with a distinctive sculptural form. The piece features a dark, textured surface with a bulbous shape and handles that resemble skull-like protrusions. The overall composition creates an eerie, almost ritualistic aesthetic, evoking a sense of ancient cultural practices. The artist's use of raw, earthy materials and the unconventional form suggest an exploration of themes related to mortality, spirituality, and the human condition. This piece likely reflects the artist's engagement with traditional practices and their desire to imbue the work with a sense of timelessness and cultural significance. ...

B.1986, Russian

It serves as a point of departure for the artist’s engagement with real but mythical space – one where bodies of knowledge are able to accumulate and hybridise across time and place. The artist carves wood, boils bones and embroiders traditional fabrics with recurring images that blur the legibility of geography and temporality, collapsing physical and symbolic orders. Part of a generation that grew up negotiating the real and imagined experiences tied to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Antufiev builds a mythology of fraught ambiguity and cultural anxiety. ...
