While writing a letter to his lover, Chen Ching-Yuan realized no words could describe his contradictory feelings; no art form he had tried before could express the complexity of the crisis he was going through. Unravel is an unlikely piece within the oeuvre of an artist we know as a painter precisely because it marks a definitory moment in his career: one in which he chose paintings as his medium of choice. Unravel should be read as a love letter in six chapters that express the intricacy of a romantic relationship.
