Artist
Roksana Pirouzmand
B.1990, Iranian-American

Engaging with the interplay between body and material, Roksana Pirouzmand creates work across sculpture, ceramics, installation, and performance. Her practice examines how touch, weight, tension, and texture shape experiences of memory, connection, and communication. Emphasizing physicality and presence, Pirouzmand invites viewers to engage as both witnesses and participants, fostering an embodied response to her art. Her recent projects have turned inward, exploring intimate and multigenerational experiences of displacement, diaspora, and familial ties. Through evocative forms and gestures, she reflects on the lingering weight of exile and inherited memory. Her installations and performances often blur the lines between object and body, space and self, prompting questions about vulnerability, resilience, and the ways in which history lives in material. By challenging the conventions of how we move through and engage with space, Pirouzmand constructs environments that shift between stillness and movement, silence and interaction. Her works become sites of encounter—charged with emotional, sensory, and psychological depth—where presence, both physical and ancestral, is felt as much as it is seen. ...
