Collective Selves

Identity unfolds as a shared terrain, shaped by intertwined memories, layered histories, and the environmental concerns that bind communities together. In online gatherings, artists weave these traces into shifting constellations that blur the boundary between self and collective. Through such communal making, identity becomes fluid—co-created, responsive to our changing world, and continually reshaped by the many who remember and care in common.

Collective Selves explores identity as something formed through connection rather than isolation. In a moment shaped by shared histories, environmental uncertainty, and overlapping temporalities, the self emerges as a collective construct—built from communal memory, entangled ecologies, and the many narratives that converge within community.

Through the work of contemporary artists spanning speculative environments, digital embodiment, and material memory, Collective Selves explores how identity emerges through shared experience and communal imagination. Each episode opens onto a different mode of co-creation: concrete worlds where non-human presences unsettle human-centered narratives; digital avatars that stretch the boundaries of the self; and intimate gestures that map how memory travels across bodies, technologies, and time. Rather than seeking a singular truth, these practices embrace multiplicity, interdependence, and collective responsibility. Collective Selves invites us to understand identity as something continually shaped by others—woven from common histories, fragile ecologies, and the stories we build together.
