Expanded Bodies
Expanded Bodies
Bodies become porous in this series—stretching across materials, technologies, and shared environments. Expanded Bodies explores how embodiment is constantly reconfigured through movement, connection, and transformation, revealing the self as an evolving field rather than a contained form
Start SeriesExpanded Bodies investigates how contemporary embodiment exceeds the limits of the human form. In a world shaped by digital interfaces, hybrid materials, and shifting ecologies, the body becomes a site of extension, adaptation, and reinvention.
Bodies extend far beyond the limits of skin. They stretch into tools, screens, materials, and the environments they inhabit. Through the work of contemporary artists across mediums, Expanded Bodies explores how gestures, technologies, and ecologies reshape the boundaries of embodiment. Each chapter opens a different point of entry: from hybrid forms where matter and organism converge, to digital selves that fracture, multiply, and mutate.
These practices resist the notion of the body as singular or fixed. Instead, they dwell in fluid states—where movement becomes memory, interfaces become organs, and environments act as collaborators rather than backdrops. Expanded Bodies invites us to consider how our physical and virtual forms continually overlap, extend, and transform, revealing embodiment as a shifting territory shaped by relation, imagination, and the worlds we build around us.
