Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features two abstract, organic sculptures made of a pale, earthy material, possibly clay or plaster. The sculptures are positioned on a stark, minimalist platform against a backdrop of rough, textured stone walls, creating a stark and contemplative atmosphere. The sculptural forms have a fluid, almost biomorphic quality, evoking natural shapes and processes. The simple yet powerful composition, combined with the contrast between the raw, unfinished materials and the refined, architectural setting, suggests the artist's intent to explore themes of nature, materiality, and the human condition. ...

Hubert Duprat
Artist
Hubert Duprat
B.1957, French

Hubert Duprat was born in 1957 in Nérac in Lot-et-Garonne, he lives and works in the South of France. Sumptuous, demanding and complex, the Duprat oeuvre draws inspiration from chance and the empirical, combining the discovery of objects, remnants and texts in a testing-out of matter, technique and dexterity. The artist is equally happy in the natural world or working with strange minerals (iron pyrites, calcite, ulexite, etc.), species that defy classification (amber, coral, etc.) and everyday industrial materials (polystyrene, concrete, paraffin, modelling clay, etc.) His repurposed processes come largely from the crafts – marquetry, goldsmithery, upholstery – but also from such vernacular domains as string art. ...

Paris

To avoid any narcissism the gallery will not bear a name, but instead mark of the end of a century during which the Fine Arts are exhausted of unknown practices and forms, Art: Concept was born. In 1997, the gallery joined its friends in the 13th district of Paris to be part of the adventure of the brand new rue Louise Weiss. Despite unforgettable years in this district, the move to the Marais was inevitable. Today, the gallery is located in a private passage (passage Sainte Avoye) and represents artists with whom it has been working for 25 years as well as young graduates. Trying to reflect the evolution of society, the gallery emphasises its proposals in a multi-faceted reflection on individuality and collectivity in a wide range of contexts. Like Janus, it looks both to the past and the future. Today's world is so in need of reference points that it's reassuring to invent a future, thanks to artists, as well as to compare it to the past. We invite you to ask for it, we will be at the gallery, very happy to explain it to you. ...
