Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This striking black-and-white photograph depicts a surreal, dreamlike scene. The composition features distorted, intertwined figures shrouded in shadows, creating an unsettling and visceral impression. The artist's use of chiaroscuro lighting heightens the sense of mystery and unease, while the gestural, expressive brushwork lends the image a raw, emotive quality. The work seems to explore themes of the subconscious, the fragility of the human form, and the unseen forces that shape our existence. Without identifying any individuals, the artist invites the viewer to engage with the work's powerful, evocative symbolism. ...

Artist
Marie Angeletti
B.1984, French

Marie Angeletti uses photography to re-frame discordant yet familiar genres of representation. The French artist collects imagery from art historical sources, Google image searches, and media platforms. She photographs and re-photographs it, thereby continuously re-interpreting the act of making and looking at art. In the artist’s works the original source of the image becomes blurred and unfocused, giving space of novel, unexpected interpretations. In such a way, Angeletti’s juxtaposed, digitally manipulated, combined and rearranged photography allows for endless possibilities of meaning. ...
