Morgan Wills

Morgan Wills works directly on his canvases, creating and building composition and subject matter over time. His paintings take on a 'story' through the process of making, with the relationships between figures and objects gaining substance and weight. There is an ambiguous feeling when looking at his work: we are in the middle of a scene, yet it is detached from us. Wills' use of bright colours and bold shapes is at first glance light and amusing - but through the use of repetition, gesture and the absurd, Wills manages to address the existential fears inherent in the human condition and alludes to the anxieties in the creative process itself. ...

The gallery brings a range of vibrant artists working within different media to the fore – often showcasing them for the first time and offering emerging artists exposure to an international audience. To date, the gallery has hosted over 60 physical exhibitions, pop-up exhibitions, exhibitions in virtual reality and online. Sid Motion Gallery opened in 2016 in a former betting shop in Kings Cross.
