Artist
Anna Munk
B.1994, Danish

Anna Munk graduated from the Royal Danish Art Academy in 2022. Combining techniques of classical painting with the premises of mediæsthetic image-making and the contemporary beauty industry, she draws on a wide range of formal references and materials, such as eyeshadow, rouge, wax, silver leaf, torn fabrics, oils, and acrylics. The material logic of her work creates clashes, between traditional painting and cosmetics, luxurious stillness, and minimalism—mirroring the anachronistic and decadent logic of the contemporary culture. She is currently preparing for her first major solo exhibition at O–Overgaden, Copenhagen (2025). In the past, she has held solo exhibitions at Atelier W Pantin, Paris (2024) and Tørrelfort AGA Works, Copenhagen; and participated in group shows in Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art, Copenhagen (2023) and Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2022). Munk has been participating in the Art Hub Copenhagen residency this year. ...
