Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a striking sculptural composition with a prominent organic, textural quality. The central element resembles a fantastical creature or mythical figure, sculpted in a rich, earthy palette of browns and golds. The overall form is dynamic, with intricate, flowing shapes and patterns that suggest a sense of movement and metamorphosis. The artist's use of metallic finishes and sculptural techniques imbues the piece with a sense of depth and complexity, inviting the viewer to explore the interplay of light and shadow. This visually captivating work likely draws inspiration from nature, mythology, or the artist's own imaginative vision. ...

ASMA
B.1990, Ecuadorian/Mexican

ASMA is an artist duo formed by Matias Armendaris (b. 1990, Ecuador) and Hanya Beliá (b. 1994, Mexico). They live and work in Mexico City. Their work uses allegorical figures and evocative architectural spaces exploring formal interrelations between painterly and sculptural expressions. They employ fictional narratives which include forms of nature interwoven with psychoaffective contemporary landscapes. As a result of a collaborative process the work focuses on hybrid and polluted forms both in a material and conceptual nature. They explore a nostalgic revisitation of the past through a metamodern lens which oscillates between critical discourses of identity and belonging with ornate formal explorations of beauty. ASMA’s recent projects include Inverse Sátiro Envy I & II at PEANA, Mexico City, MX; Blind Sun Rests in Desire, Everyday Gallery, Antwerp, BEL; The Last of Animal Builders at the Edith Farnsworth House curated by Alberto Ortega in Plane, Illinois US; Wander & Pursuit a solo exhibition at House of Gaga in Los Angeles, US; Who Tells a Tale Adds A Tail, a group exhibition at Denver Art Museum; Denver, US; Vain Kisses to the Source, a solo exhibition at Deli Gallery in New York, US; Vermin Gloom at Project Pangeé, Montreal, CA; a participation in “OTRXS MUNDXS” a group exhibition at Museo Tamayo, Mexico City, MX; “Anima Mundi” a group exhibition presented as part of Manifiesta 13, Marseille, FR; “Janus” a solo exhibition at Embajada, San Juan, PR; “Half Blood Princess” a solo exhibition at PEANA, Monterrey, MX; “Blossoming Carcass” at Make Room, Los Angeles, US. ...

PEANA
Mexico City

Since its opening in 2017, PEANA has served as a platform for multidisciplinary production and research of emerging Mexican contemporary art, with a strong emphasis on experimental practices. A recurring characteristic of the artists they support is the continuous evolution of the artistic lineage of conceptual rigorously expressions that are grounded in the plasticity of the artwork’s materiality. Through its off-site and group exhibitions PEANA is interested in the curatorial practice as cultural synthesis that bridges historicized art practices to emerging ones from Mexico and abroad. ...
