Carolina Fusilier (b.1985, Buenos Aires) lives and works in Oaxaca. Through painting, film and installation she explores post-human imaginaries, investigating intersections between organic and mechanical bodies, between industrial and domestic scenarios. Her work emphasizes the displacement of anthropogenic perspectives into non-human sensibilities, speculating on the potential of artifacts and technologies with which we are enmeshed, yet whose nature remains uncertain.
Fusilier has appeared in solo and group exhibitions at Jumex Museum in Mexico City, MX; Mendes Wood DM in Sao Paulo, BR; Locust Projects in Miami, USA; Natalia Hug Gallery in Cologne, DE; La Fábrica in Buenos Aires, ARG; The Drawing Center in New York, USA; The Sculpture Center in New York, USA; and Centro Cultural Tlatelolco, Mexico City, MX; among others. She was a recipient of several grants and awards including the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Fellowship and the Jumex Foundation scholarship. Since its opening in 2017, PEANA has served as a platform for multidisciplinary production and research of emerging Mexican contemporary art, with a strong emphasis on experimental practices. A recurring characteristic of the artists they support is the continuous evolution of the artistic lineage of conceptual rigorously expressions that are grounded in the plasticity of the artwork’s materiality. Through its off-site and group exhibitions PEANA is interested in the curatorial practice as cultural synthesis that bridges historicized art practices to emerging ones from Mexico and abroad. ...
