Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

"Mascara Drawing #12" by Helena Pritchard features a monochromatic palette with expressive, abstract forms suggestive of organic or raw environmental textures. The amorphous shapes appear as if built from accumulated strokes, reminiscent of natural detritus. Pritchard employs a gestural technique, channeling an abstract expressionist style that emphasizes movement and texture. The work reflects her dedication to ecological themes, possibly inspired by the concept of 'Viriditas,' linking nature's divine vitality with her painterly language. ...

Helena Pritchard
B.1975, South African

HelenA Pritchard was born in South Africa and came to London to study, firstly for a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of East London and then for an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, where she was the recipient of the Stanley Spencer Scholarship. Pritchard’s varied artistic practice encompasses painting, sculpture and installation, centred around a concern with the ecological and the elevation through her work of discarded detritus and found materials. This is done via a formal language that often refers to her background as a painter. These processes connecting material and the organic relate back to the ideas of Hildergard von Bingen, the 12th century abbess, composer, theologian and medicinal herbalist, and her belief in the divine force of nature or ‘Viriditas’, the translation from Latin meaning green and truth. Helen lives and works between London and Shropshire, the duality between city and countryside offering a rich and broad landscape of materials and context. ...

Lodos
Paris, Mexico City

LODO Gallery is a contemporary art space dedicated to exploring the dynamic relationship between emptiness and materiality. Founded on the belief that the void is not a lack, but a fertile ground for meaning and creation, the gallery showcases works across a range of media—including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and video. Its curatorial approach emphasizes conceptual depth and visual resonance, offering exhibitions that invite reflection on contrast, presence, and transformation. The name LODO, meaning “mud” in Spanish, symbolizes the gallery’s core philosophy: like mud—a blend of earth and water—the void is a generative matrix where form and thought take shape. Located at the intersection of absence and expression, LODO Gallery fosters a space where artistic practices can unfold with freedom, nuance, and integrity. ...
