Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This artwork features a delicate floral pattern in shades of blue and white on a neutral, beige background. The composition is characterized by the intricate, curving branches and stylized blossoms that extend across the canvas. Zak Kitnick’s sculptures and installations engage with questions about the relationship between art and everyday life. Exploring the conceptual parallels and differences between decor, utility and fine art, he creates objects characterised by geometric shapes, familiar objects and materials, such as plywood, posters and metal shelving, and references to methodologies and systems. The latter is manifested in the recurring references, both visual and conceptual, to the Bagua, a Chinese cosmological grid that represents and organises reality through the study of feng shui. Kitnick is fascinated by the ways human life and understanding relies on structures and systems and the ways those systems can produce omissions, like lack of appreciation of the objects we encounter every day. Drawing the audience’s attention to those, Kitnick’s work is a poignant investigation of value and materiality. Written by Goldsmiths CCA ...
