Aslan Goisum (b. 1991 in Grozny, Chechnya) lives and works in Grozny and Amsterdam. Goisum develops a practice based on film, photography and sculpture which explores the formation of political, cultural, and ideological identities. Shaped by the experience of war, nomadism, diaspora and displacement as a Chechnyan, his work interpolates the facade of progress and commerce that strives to conceal enduring devastation. Emalin

London

Emalin is a London-based contemporary art gallery run by Angelina Volk and Leopold Thun. Prior to opening the permanent gallery space in London’s East End in September 2016, Emalin operated as an itinerant exhibition programme and project space since 2014.
