Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This striking oil painting depicts a pensive, weathered face in shades of brown, beige, and black against a dark background. The artist has employed bold, expressive brushstrokes to capture the subject's intense gaze and rugged features, conveying a sense of contemplation and gravitas. The distinctive style and technique suggest this is a work of post-Impressionist portraiture, likely intended to evoke the inner emotional state of the sitter. While the specific identity of the individual is not revealed, the artwork invites the viewer to ponder the subject's life experiences and the artist's underlying motivation in creating this powerful, introspective portrait. ...

Julien Audebert
B.1977, French

Born in 1977 in Brive La Gaillarde, Julien Audebert lives and works in Paris. Whether it be cinema or photography, History is a central subject in his work. It is dialecticized, reconstructed or exhumed, through processes from which emerges the ideology underlying the dominant cultural forms (cinema, media, literature, pictorial genres…) His works often materialize a point of tension or climax of a political or military nature where geographical variables play a particular role. Since 2019, Julien Audebert has been painting and working on a a series of small works with oil on copper. His most recent series, Obsidionales, consists of small oil paintings on copper following his large-scale battlefield “Nocturnes” (and his recent film Mars and Venus …). These exogenous “flowers of war” moved by the soles of soldiers, railroad or horses, are painted, centred in the middle of the frame, as a child would do, done alla prima (a technique imposed by the adhesion on the copper). This series also explicitly evokes Flemish and French genre painting of the 17th century, used for decorative or votive purposes. These works, like his recent aquarium paintings (Eden…), place creates conflagration between the subject and an often invisible historical underpinning. ...

Paris

To avoid any narcissism the gallery will not bear a name, but instead mark of the end of a century during which the Fine Arts are exhausted of unknown practices and forms, Art: Concept was born. In 1997, the gallery joined its friends in the 13th district of Paris to be part of the adventure of the brand new rue Louise Weiss. Despite unforgettable years in this district, the move to the Marais was inevitable. Today, the gallery is located in a private passage (passage Sainte Avoye) and represents artists with whom it has been working for 25 years as well as young graduates. Trying to reflect the evolution of society, the gallery emphasises its proposals in a multi-faceted reflection on individuality and collectivity in a wide range of contexts. Like Janus, it looks both to the past and the future. Today's world is so in need of reference points that it's reassuring to invent a future, thanks to artists, as well as to compare it to the past. We invite you to ask for it, we will be at the gallery, very happy to explain it to you. ...
