Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This contemporary art piece showcases a visually striking composition. The central focus is a red-clad figure against a dark backdrop, surrounded by abstract yellow shapes that draw the eye. The artwork juxtaposes this figurative element with a second, more ominous image depicting a reclining nude form. The overall style and technique suggests a surrealistic, almost collage-like approach, inviting the viewer to ponder the symbolic or metaphorical connections between the contrasting imagery. The historical context and the artist's intention behind this multilayered work likely explore themes of the human condition, emotion, and the intersection of the corporeal and the spiritual. ...

Kang Seung Lee
B.1978, American/South Korean

Kang Seung Lee’s practice seeks both to illuminate and to create new critical, cross-cultural queer histories. Born in South Korea but having lived in Latin America and the Middle East, Seung Lee is concerned with excavating material – such as artworks, artefacts and publications, from public and private archives, for example libraries, museums and private collections – that sheds light on non-Western marginalised experiences and suppressed histories. Through the artist’s meticulous process of research, hidden narratives and personal accounts, divergent with hegemonic and linear histories, begin to emerge. Expressing his findings with graphite pencil, paintings on transformed canvases, garments, ceramics, film footage and Polaroid images, Kang Seung Lee sees these alternative, counter-narratives as dictating strategies and tactics for the liberation of marginalised peoples.
