Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a monochromatic graphite drawing depicting a close-up view of a sleeping figure. The composition is centered on the subject's relaxed facial features and gently draped bedding, conveying a sense of tranquility and intimacy. The artist's attention to detail and delicate shading techniques evoke the soft, wistful quality of the subject's slumber. B.1978, American/South Korean

Kang Seung Lee’s practice seeks both to illuminate and to create new critical, cross-cultural queer histories. Through the artist’s meticulous process of research, hidden narratives and personal accounts, divergent with hegemonic and linear histories, begin to emerge. Expressing his findings with graphite pencil, paintings on transformed canvases, garments, ceramics, film footage and Polaroid images, Kang Seung Lee sees these alternative, counter-narratives as dictating strategies and tactics for the liberation of marginalised peoples.
