Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a tall, narrow wooden plinth painted in a striking golden hue. The paint appears to be dripping down the sides, creating a dramatic, organic effect that contrasts with the geometric shape of the plinth. The overall composition is minimalist, allowing the vibrant color and expressive application of paint to take center stage. The work seems to explore themes of materiality, process, and the human touch in contemporary sculptural practice. The artist's intention may be to evoke a sense of dynamism and movement within a static form, inviting the viewer to contemplate the interplay between structure and spontaneity. ...

Kang Seung Lee
B.1978, American/South Korean

Kang Seung Lee’s practice seeks both to illuminate and to create new critical, cross-cultural queer histories. Born in South Korea but having lived in Latin America and the Middle East, Seung Lee is concerned with excavating material – such as artworks, artefacts and publications, from public and private archives, for example libraries, museums and private collections – that sheds light on non-Western marginalised experiences and suppressed histories. Through the artist’s meticulous process of research, hidden narratives and personal accounts, divergent with hegemonic and linear histories, begin to emerge. Expressing his findings with graphite pencil, paintings on transformed canvases, garments, ceramics, film footage and Polaroid images, Kang Seung Lee sees these alternative, counter-narratives as dictating strategies and tactics for the liberation of marginalised peoples.
