Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a striking abstract composition dominated by warm, earthy tones. The canvas is filled with vertical lines and drips of paint that create a sense of depth and movement, evocative of natural phenomena like waterfalls or rock formations. The overall effect is one of raw, untamed energy conveyed through the artist's bold, expressive brushwork. The artwork likely reflects the creator's intention to capture the dynamic and elemental aspects of the natural world. ...

1990

Shaan Bevan (b.1990) is an American artist based in the Montagne Noire, Southern France. She completed her MFA at the Slade in 2023. Before then she had worked in fashion, but left the industry when she was diagnosed with cancer. She has exhibited with Des Bains in London and at Feria Material in Mexico City and Zaza Gallery in Naples. Palmer Gallery will host a two-person exhibition of Shaan’s work - alongside her partner Owen Pratt, who’s a sound artist - during Frieze London 2024. Shaan Bevan typically draws detailed seascapes that’re often quite turbulent as they were intended to mirror the internal state of her body when she was undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She made one drawing for each level of the Beaufort scale, attempting to capture the power of the wind and equate that with a body in revolt. At one stage during Shaan’s treatment, she had so many chemicals in her body that her urine was considered a biohazard - since she has been in remission she has been reclaiming these chemicals in various ways, staining the materials she works with. ...

London

Founded by Lucas Giles and Will Hainsworth in 2024, Palmer Gallery is a space dedicated to identifying and developing the strongest emerging artistic talent of today. The gallery is situated in London’s Lisson Grove, in a 1000 ft2 former-factory built in the 1920’s by the Palmer Tyre Company, who produced parts for the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster Bombers during The Second World War. The gallery programme focuses on cross-disciplinary artists working across painting, sculpture, video, performance, light and sound installation, creating an immersive exhibition space. This multi-sensory approach embraces a holistic view of contemporary art while championing an institutional dedication to framing and contextualising complex artistic practices. Palmer Gallery’s core mission is to allow artists to express themselves and thrive in an open, supportive and experimental environment; fostering a culture of creative freedom and connection among the gallery’s artists and the wider community. ...
