Pierre Dumaire studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna as well as at the Duperré School in Paris, and he graduated in 2025 from the studio of Eva Nielsen and Mireille Blanc at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris.
Pierre Dumaire’s work is grounded in the exchange of signs and the development of a visual language specific to homosexual culture, which he explores through scenes on silk and paper in which gazes, dress codes, bandanas, printed patterns, and gestures revealing the body appear. In large-scale works, this circulation of desire—oscillating between disclosure and frontality—echoes the strategies of advertising, while playing with systems of recognition and the transfer of values specific to this community.
His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Ancien Évêché in Toulon (2022 and 2023) and at Village Reille in Paris (2021). He was in residence in 2022 at Villa Noailles to prepare the exhibition Objets Modernes, and in 2016, for one year, in the tapestry workshop of the Manufacture des Gobelins.
