Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a striking abstract composition dominated by bold black and white diagonal stripes, creating a dynamic and fragmented visual effect. The intersecting lines, layered textures, and scattered splashes of color lend the piece a sense of raw energy and movement. The artist employs a collage-like technique, combining different materials and surfaces to explore themes of chaos, disruption, and the tension between order and disorder. The overall style and approach suggest a connection to the abstract expressionist tradition, with the artist's intention likely focused on provoking an emotive response from the viewer through the powerful use of color, shape, and compositional structure. ...

Artist
Sam Windett
B.1977, British

Employing abstracted systems and model-logic to make sense of information, Sam Windett’s paintings construct their own language with their dark, contrasted hues and recurring shapes. Evoking sculptural assemblages, the artist translates the forms, lines and outlines of plants, gaffer tape, wood, ribbons and motorways into painterly versions. Mysterious in their totemic appearance, the works contextualise balance and interconnectedness, both visually and conceptually. Windett’s work is process-based, whereby the paintings are created through the continuous layering, as well as removal, of paint and paper. Collaged and dazzling, Windett’s paintings are temporal experimentations of personal and collective memory, representation and abstraction. Written by Goldsmiths CCA ...
