Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a suspended, disembodied hand sculpture made of gold-colored metal. The hand dangles a string of beads with intricate patterns, creating a visually striking and thought-provoking composition. The use of contrasting materials, the dramatic positioning, and the interplay of the hand and the beaded strands suggest an exploration of themes such as the human form, spirituality, and the relationship between the physical and the ethereal. The intentional, minimal style and the symbolic elements in this contemporary piece reflect the artist's attempt to provoke contemplation and engage the viewer in a deeper examination of the human experience. ...

Peruvian

Fátima Rodrigo’s work has evolved towards mixed media and interactive installations exploring the representation of Latin American modernism and gender identity through different devices such as architecture, modern art and pop culture. She is particularly interested in problematizing the structures of power that in a post-colonial context continue to organize the world in hierarchical binaries, veiling the fluid relations between colonizers and colonized that compose what we understand as “modern.” Her work has focused on understanding how modernity—understood broadly as an aesthetic, a moment in history, and an aspiration that becomes embodied in landscapes and human bodies— not only coexists with, but enables violence against vulnerable populations, including women and non-gender normative people. Her investigation raises questions regarding the ways in which these representations influence our desires and interactions based on repeated behaviors over time, shaping conventions that eventually become a sort of canon. ...
