Description
This artwork presents a pair of cyanotype prints, a photographic process that produces distinct blue-toned images. The left panel depicts ethereal marine life, with ghostly silhouettes of fish or other aquatic creatures against a hazy, dreamlike backdrop. The right panel showcases an aerial view of a cityscape, capturing the geometric patterns and structures of an urban environment. The artist's use of the cyanotype technique lends a nostalgic, vintage aesthetic to both images, inviting the viewer to ponder the interplay between nature and the built world. B.1984, BritishPatrick Goddard primarily creates video, sculpture and installation as well as working with photography, painting and drawing. His politically loaded and narrative based works undermine themselves with a self-defeating black comedy as they chart the artist’s fumbled attempts to create a personal and political integrity. Works focus on a range of topics: from ecology, the Anthropocene and the animal; to race politics, gentrification, and urbanization.
