Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This provocative painting features a striking use of bold colors and dynamic brushstrokes. The two nude female figures, depicted in an expressionistic style, sit together in a contemplative pose against a vibrant pink backdrop. The figures' elongated limbs and stylized features create a dreamlike, surreal quality, while the presence of the ornamental sword-like object adds an intriguing, symbolic element. The artist's bold, gestural technique and the surreal, erotic subject matter suggest this work is rooted in the Surrealist tradition, exploring themes of the subconscious and unconventional female imagery. ...

Sol Cattino
Artist
Sol Cattino
B.1996, French

Sol Cattino, an artist originally from Marseille, lives and creates amidst the Mediterranean vibrancy of this city. Supermarket, vernissage, lovers, Marseille-Athens, flowers… The titles of Sol Cattino’s paintings (a 2020 graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille) are revealing, providing information about the origin of the depicted scenes while initiating immediate narratives. Through a variety of formats (large framed canvases, free-standing, heart-shaped, or tending towards miniatures) and primarily using oil paint, the artist explores the major categories of art history: genre scenes, portraits, still lifes, with an uninhibited fluidity. This diversity of subjects matches the variety of her palette, which combines with a dynamic, sometimes tumultuous brushwork with pronounced expressionist influences. Making constant back-and-forth movements between the outside world and what it comprises—friends, parties, nature—and the inside of her studio, Sol Cattino’s paintings are precious icons of our present time. ...
