Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This abstract landscape painting features a striking blue and white color palette. The dominant shapes are organic and fluid, depicting a serene mountain or glacier scene with undulating curves and waves. The artist has used bold brushstrokes and a layered technique to create a sense of depth and movement, evoking the flowing, dynamic nature of ice and water. The composition is balanced, with the blue peaks framing the central icy forms against a backdrop of wispy clouds. This work showcases the artist's mastery of color, shape, and technique to convey the awe-inspiring power and beauty of the natural world. ...

Artist
Joani Tremblay
B.1981, French/Canadian

Joani Tremblay's artistic practice explores the dynamic relationships between the abstract and the representational, the virtual and the physical, and the utopian and the real. She constructs images of landscapes that she extracts from sources like social media, advertisements, and field research. Through this unique technique, she creates simulated natural scenes and surreal and abstract landscapes that challenge our perception of place. Tremblay's work is characterized by sharp borders that often separate the foreground and background and an abundant presence of domestic plants that seem out of place. She assembles these found images using digital collage techniques, testing hundreds of possibilities before sketching onto the material, creating a new space for reflection and contemplation. By referencing the digital representation of landscapes in contemporary society, Tremblay subverts and flattens perspectives, using fragments of built environments such as thresholds and architecture as framing devices to crop, obscure, and layer the landscape. The repetition and translation of forms in her work reflects the fast-paced consumption of digital content that characterizes our current era. ...
