Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This black and white image depicts a minimalist, abstract drawing of a person holding a bouquet of flowers. The overall composition is simple, with the central figure outlined in white against a dark background. The style is stark and elemental, conveying a sense of loneliness or isolation through the lone figure and the sparse use of lines. The artwork appears to be a photographic or photocopy-based rendering, lending it a textural quality and a sense of immediacy. The piece likely explores themes of human relationships, emotions, and the fragility of existence, though its exact intention remains open to interpretation. ...

Phumzile Khanyile
, South African

Phumzile Khanyile is an award-winning South African photographer and activist. Khanyile's practice focuses on her own interiority, women's lives and sexual politics. Her work consists of self-portraits with a candid, instant aesthetic and, more recently, photographic negatives accompanied by hand-drawn images and symbols. To this day, violence and childhood trauma continue to fuel her creativity. According to the photographer, looking back allows her to move forward; "many of the clues to who I really am lie somewhere in the past", which she tries to evoke through her photography. ...

Cape Town

Based in a 360 sqm gallery in Woodstock, Cape Town, blank was founded by Jonathan Garnham as a project space in 2005 and transitioned into a commercial gallery during 2012. The gallery represents emerging and increasingly established artists from the region in a critically engaged programme that emphasises contemporaneity, with a focus on concept and abstraction in the African context. With an exhibition programme that has a reputation for shaping the discourse around contemporary art in South(ern) Africa, and participation in prominent local and international art fairs, we seek to place our artists' work in a wide range of private and institutional collections. In addition, blank continues to promote the visual arts in our community through ongoing projects that support the sector. ...
