Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This black and white image depicts a television set displaying a distorted and abstract image. The screen appears to be partially obscured, creating a sense of fragmentation and interference. The overall composition is stark and minimalist, with the television set itself serving as a central focal point. The distorted, almost ghostly image on the screen suggests an intentional artistic style, perhaps exploring themes of technology, media, and the disruption of visual information. The artist's intention may be to comment on the nature of visual representation and perception in the digital age. ...

Phumzile Khanyile
, South African

Phumzile Khanyile is an award-winning South African photographer and activist. Khanyile's practice focuses on her own interiority, women's lives and sexual politics. Her work consists of self-portraits with a candid, instant aesthetic and, more recently, photographic negatives accompanied by hand-drawn images and symbols. To this day, violence and childhood trauma continue to fuel her creativity. According to the photographer, looking back allows her to move forward; "many of the clues to who I really am lie somewhere in the past", which she tries to evoke through her photography. ...

Cape Town

Based in a 360 sqm gallery in Woodstock, Cape Town, blank was founded by Jonathan Garnham as a project space in 2005 and transitioned into a commercial gallery during 2012. The gallery represents emerging and increasingly established artists from the region in a critically engaged programme that emphasises contemporaneity, with a focus on concept and abstraction in the African context. With an exhibition programme that has a reputation for shaping the discourse around contemporary art in South(ern) Africa, and participation in prominent local and international art fairs, we seek to place our artists' work in a wide range of private and institutional collections. In addition, blank continues to promote the visual arts in our community through ongoing projects that support the sector. ...
