Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork depicts a minimalistic and abstract composition. The dominant colors are shades of brown and black, with splashes of yellow accenting the frames. The overall layout features geometric shapes and bold brushstrokes, creating a sense of depth and texture. The subject matter appears to be ambiguous, with silhouettes or shadowy figures hinted at within the abstract forms. The artistic style suggests a focus on expression and emotion rather than realism, employing experimental techniques to convey a contemplative and introspective mood. This contemporary piece likely reflects the artist's personal exploration of themes such as identity, memory, or the human experience. ...

Marguerite HumeauCoeur de Marie, A relationship that you can’t get out of your head, that is still somehow alive, unfinished. It has become a mythical place, an abandoned campsite in your mental landscape. Inspired by the Bleeding Heart, the plant extract traditionally given to the brokenhearted and the codependent, as it is made of two fused flowers, each being half of a heart, 2022Price on Request

Artist
Pol Taburet
1997, French

Pulling from influences that span his Caribbean heritage, voodoo traditions, devotional and Baroque art, Pol Taburet’s paintings are unique, enigmatic and immediately recognisable. While compositional and stylistic elements within the artist’s works are reminiscent of 20th Century painter Francis Bacon – specifically through their abstracted, distorted and sometimes horrifying figuration, and the two-dimensional colour blocking of the figures’ backdrops – Taburet combines acrylic paint with digital airbrushing. Through this combination of new and old technologies, the artist portrays characters that look like computer-generated avatars, perhaps representations of real people rendered through the digital. Hybridity is a notion reflected both in the figures’ reluctance to be categorised as either human or animal, as well as in the undoing of the binary between life and death. The figures appear to be in limbo, a purgatory of sorts, occupying a flattened, liminal space outside of time. Written by Goldsmiths CCA ...
