Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This contemporary textile artwork features a minimalist composition with a muted color palette. The artist has used a grid-like structure as the foundation, upon which they have carefully arranged natural elements such as dried leaves and twigs. These organic materials are interspersed with stitches and markings that create a sense of movement and interconnectedness across the canvas. The overall effect is a delicate, yet visually compelling piece that explores the intersection between the natural and the constructed world. The artist's intention may be to highlight the fragility and resilience of nature in the face of human intervention. ...

Coeur de Marie, A relationship that you can’t get out of your head, that is still somehow alive, unfinished. It has become a mythical place, an abandoned campsite in your mental landscape. Inspired by the Bleeding Heart, the plant extract traditionally given to the brokenhearted and the codependent, as it is made of two fused flowers, each being half of a heart

Artist
Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien
B.1990, French

Born in 1990 to an Ivorian father and a Guadeloupean mother, Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien grew up between Abidjan and Paris. She lives and works in Paris. Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Cergy, Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien has developed an ambitious, sensitive and polymorphous personal practice. Creator of new forms, explorer of materials and signs, Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien defines herself as a storyteller of poems. Like labyrinths or rebus, her works compose new topographies around the themes of femininity, identity and the body, at the crossroads of her Caribbean and West African heritage. The artist’s works, on the border of sculpture, weaving and installation, offer us the possibility of navigating the meanders of their poetic narratives, of losing the landmarks that have been bequeathed to us in order to perhaps better redraw a path of life that is our own. ...
