Sandra Gamarra, Spanish Pavilion Representative at the Next Venice Biennale
Hats off to Sandra Gamarra for representing Spain at the 60th Venice Biennale, and for her solo show at 80M2 Livia Benavides! Sandra Gamarra is currently part of a three-person presentation by 80m2 Livia Benavides booth (N11) at Art Basel Miami Beach.
Sandra Gamarra is a Peruvian artist known for her multidisciplinary approach, which includes painting, sculpture, installation, and performance. Gamarra’s work often explores the intersection of history, memory, and identity, with a focus on issues of cultural appropriation and representation.
She is particularly interested in how colonialism has shaped Latin America’s art and culture, and she frequently references historical and cultural artefacts in her work. Through over two decades of producing thought-provoking, formally deliberate artwork, Sandra Gamarra has established herself as one of the most significant Peruvian artists of her time.
