Material
curtains, dye made of purple poppy flowers, hibiscus, egyptian blue pigment, ash, salt, rainwater
Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

The artwork features a large, draped fabric structure in shades of pink, red, and brown. The fabric appears to be distressed and torn, creating an irregular, abstract shape that resembles a mountain or landscape. The overall composition is visually striking, with the fabric's bold colors and textured surface contrasting against the plain white walls of the gallery space. The artist seems to have employed a DIY or handmade approach, using unconventional materials to create a sculptural work that evokes a sense of fragility and impermanence. The piece likely reflects the artist's exploration of themes related to nature, human experiences, and the ephemeral nature of existence. ...

Artist
Dala Nasser
B.1990, Lebanese

Dala Nasser is a material-based artist who works across various mediums including painting, performance, and film. Nasser’s work examines the intersection of human and non-human entanglement in relation to environmental, historical, and political issues, particularly those resulting from practices of extraction and colonial erasure. Her artistic process involves using materials that carry literal meaning, and her work is rooted in her personal experiences and the history of her region. In her solo exhibition “Time spent without its flow” at V.O Curations in London, she used found fabrics from her grandparents' house located in the south of Lebanon, which she coloured with natural dyes made from wildflowers that can withstand toxic soil. After dyeing the textiles, she applied charcoal rubbings from the trunks of olive trees and flintstone from neighbouring terrace walls. This repetitive process is subject to the elements, with the markings gradually being washed away. ...
