Description
This artwork features a striking contrast of colors and textures. The dominant hue is a vibrant, almost neon-like pink, which creates a bold, eye-catching backdrop for the central element - a heavily textured, irregularly shaped piece of raw material, likely a type of rock or mineral. The composition is asymmetrical, with the natural form placed diagonally across the canvas, adding a sense of dynamism and energy. B.1990, LebaneseDala Nasser is a material-based artist who works across various mediums including painting, performance, and film. Nasser’s work examines the intersection of human and non-human entanglement in relation to environmental, historical, and political issues, particularly those resulting from practices of extraction and colonial erasure. After dyeing the textiles, she applied charcoal rubbings from the trunks of olive trees and flintstone from neighbouring terrace walls. This repetitive process is subject to the elements, with the markings gradually being washed away. ...
