Description
Human-crafted. AI-refined.

This surreal oil painting features a swirling, organic composition dominated by vibrant shades of brown, orange, and green. The intricate, abstract patterns evoke a dreamlike, otherworldly atmosphere, with undulating forms and textures that captivate the viewer's attention. The artist has skillfully employed a unique blend of realism and expressionism, creating a visually striking work that challenges the boundaries between the familiar and the fantastical. While the exact subject matter is open to interpretation, the artwork seems to invite the viewer to explore the depths of their own imagination and perception. ...

Katarina Caserman
B.1996, Slovenian

Katarina Caserman (b. 1996) is a London-based artist originally from Slovenia. The challenge of representing nonmaterial matter is central to Caserman's artistic inquiry. The artist sees that for each existing object, it requires a particular type of material to facilitate its growth, and within this process, the artist seeks to give form to the intangible. She recognises that thoughts, memories, and time exist beyond the bounds of our perceptible reality, yet they remain integral components of our lives. Her work aims to materialise these abstract concepts by imbuing them with tangible characteristics such as colour, shape, and movement. She obtained her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in 2022 and her BA in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. She was awarded a Ministry of Culture of Slovenia’s Scholarship for Promising Young Artists (2020). Caserman’s first solo show with Tabula Rasa Gallery is scheduled in 2024 in Beijing. Her recent exhibitions include And the safe spot become impassable, curated by Ethan Yip/Yisi Li (Hong Kong, 2024); Untalely, Tabula Rasa Gallery (Beijing, 2023); Tabula Rasa: Unveiled, No.9 Cork Street (London, 2023); The last train after the last train; Public Gallery (London, 2023); Pandora (Sivi.), Long Story Short NYC (New York, 2023); Conscious Unconscious, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery (London, 2023); NADA Miami 2022, presented by Tabula Rasa Gallery (Miami, 2022); It is Better to be Cats than be Loved, Tabula Rasa Gallery (London, 2022); Made in Heaven, duo solo, Des Bains (London, 2022); s02e02, International Centre of Graphic Arts (Ljubljana, 2019); and Fin-de-Siècle #III at Layer House Gallery (Kranj, 2019). Her works can be found in Deji Art Museum and many other private collections. ...

Tabula Rasa Gallery
London

Tabula Rasa Gallery is based in Beijing's 798 art district. Established in 2015, it aims to promote both Chinese and international contemporary artists through exhibitions, talks, research and publication. The gallery name is Latin for 'blank state'. In philosophical discourse, it refers to the idea that our knowledge comes from our experiences and education, all participants are born in a Tabula Rasa state. Tabula Rasa hopes that the exhibitions they present can subvert viewers’ preconceptions, creating conditions for fresh artistic experiments. ...
